Background

Cricket is not new in Brunei Darussalam. It may have started in 1950s but unfortunately the game was only centered round with expatriates working in the country. In 2004, the Brunei Darussalam Cricket Association (BDCA) has taken up several strategies and initiatives to develop and promote the game among the locals. In response, a Development Committee has been formed for the first time by the BDCA and cricket sun shined with new flavors and colors.

The new initiatives and efforts have led through an infusion of the game in the country, though not rapidly yet at significant level. Today, many locals, especially the youths, have taken up the game on a regular basis. This is very encouraging.

Asian Cricket Council has been the major contributor in assisting the development of the game in Brunei Darussalam.
